Hydraulically actuated running and setting tool engineered for demanding liner installations requiring vigorous push, pull, drill-down, and drill-in operations
Sapsan Running Tool is specifically designed to handle tension or compression loads when working liners to bottom in challenging well conditions.
The system is composed of two integrated components: the Power Section and the Running Tool. The Power Section relocates the hydraulic pistons—traditionally housed within the liner-top packer—into the running tool BHA, thereby eliminating potential leak paths and minimizing O-ring exposure within the liner hanger assembly. When pressure is applied, the differential acts on the internal piston, transferring the setting force directly into the liner-top packer to complete the setting operation.

To install a 7" Sapsan Liner Hanger System in a deep geothermal well, with the primary challenge being deployment and reliable setting at a depth of approximately 4,500 meters under demanding geothermal well conditions.
A 7" Sapsan Liner Hanger System was deployed in a telescopic well configuration consisting of a 20" conductor, 13 3/8" casing, 9 5/8" casing, and a 7" liner. Both the 13 3/8" and 9 5/8" casing strings were designed for two-stage cementing using external casing packers (ECPs) and Stage Collars with the required accessories, ensuring zonal isolation and cement integrity across the well profile.
The SAPSAN liner hanger assembly was made up and connected to the drill pipe.
The system was run in hole to a depth of approximately 4,500 meters. The liner hanger was successfully set according to the established running procedures.
A pressure test was conducted to verify packer integrity and confirm proper sealing.
The running tool was successfully released from the liner hanger.
